# Introduction

Finch Studio is an integrated modeling environment for pharmacometricians, clinical pharmacologists, data scientists, and other team members to visualize understand, develop, and organize PK/PD models and data. The goal of Finch Studio is to increase the modeler’s efficiency, lower the bar to entry for the new pharmacometrician, and make PK/PD data and models more palatable to non-modeler team members during interdisciplinary meetings. It includes a powerful NONMEM code editor and workbench, a library of > 100 PK/PD models, and interactive data visualizations to help guide decision making during the analysis. Finch Studio is released under a free academic license for students and instructors, as well as a commercial license for organizations.

Information about the user agreement can be found at https://www.finchstudio.io/agreement (opens new window).

Finch Studio provides a best-of-both-worlds modeling environment designed to:

  • be powerful, yet simple to use,
  • be flexible, while still keeping rigid organization of the modeler’s files and outputs, allowing them to focus on the task at hand, and
  • be comprehensive, while still integrating with other popular pharmacometrics software tools.

The interface is comprised of three main components:

  1. a model workbench with a robust code editor, currently optimized for NONMEM, with modern editor features such as auto-completion, documentation on hover, error checking, syntax highlighting and code folding.
  2. Interactive visualizations to allow the user to explore their data and view diagnostic plots of model results, and
  3. A model library, consisting of hundreds of possible different combinations of PK, PD, and statistical models to serve as a starting point for your analysis.

We always welcome feedback from our users. Let us know about the feature or models you wish Finch had and we’ll add it to the roadmap.
